Joan P. (Turner) Brooks

Joan P. (Turner) Brooks passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 79.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Raymond Brooks. She is survived by her sons, Garrett Poulin of Newburyport, MA, and Aaron Poulin and his wife Pam of Methuen, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Abigail, Emma, and Gavin Poulin.

She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Turner and his wife Betty of Hampstead, NH; Kay Seymour and her husband Phillip of Randolph, VT; Bernie Turner of FL; Eileen Hockmuth of FL; Mary Doherty of Hampton, NH; Anne Beals of Sanford, ME; Joseph Turner and his wife Sandy of Newbury, MA; Peter Turner and his wife Carol of Newton, NH; and Marty Turner of Newbury, MA. Joan leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Olive and Robert Turner, as well as her brothers, Charles of FL and Patrick of MA.

Joan was a selfless, gracious, and giving person, always willing to help anyone in need. Her heart of gold will always be treasured by those who knew her. A long-time resident of Newburyport, MA, Joan retired after a dedicated 35-year career as an OR Tech at Anna Jaques Hospital. She had a deep love for Newburyport, enjoying walks downtown, strolls on the boardwalk, and watching her grandchildren play and develop the same love for the town. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, summers at the Cape, time at the lake in Norway, ME, or simply enjoying the firepit with friends, family, and a nice glass of wine. Joan's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cross-stitching and sharpshooting at the gun range with her husband Ray.

A life far too short for such an amazing woman. Joan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends may call from 10:00AM to 12:00PM and a brief service following at 12:00PM on Sunday March 23, 2025 at Twomey, LeBlanc and Conte, 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery in Newburyport.
