Jeremiah J. Duggan, Jr. 92, passed away Monday May 19, 2025 at Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danvers, MA. He was born on July 20, 1932 in Newburyport, MA to the late Jeremiah and Thelma (Wright) Duggan.
Jere was raised and educated in Newburyport graduating from Newburyport High School. Following his graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served our country proudly during the Korean War. Upon his return from service Jere was employed for a time as a Truck Driver for Graf Brothers, before becoming a Newburyport Firefighter, a job he loved until his retirement.
In his spare time Jere enjoyed dancing and singing country music. He was also a very talented mechanic and enjoyed repairing and keeping anything with a motor running. He was instrumental in the maintenance and upkeep of Newburyports Antique Engine 3.
Jere is survived by his partner, Patricia LaPointe of Danvers; children, Jere Duggan and his wife Marsha of Seabrook, and Judith Hogan and her husband Mark of Newburyport; grandchildren, Shayna, Kenneth, Tiffany, and Gregg; several great grandchildren; siblings, Elisabeth Champlin and Edward Duggan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Brett Duggan and siblings Jack, Paul, and Patricia.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesday June 10, 2025 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. His Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday June 11, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by burial with military honors in the Fireman’s Memorial at Oakhill Cemetery.
