Jennie Jancewicz, passed away at her home early Monday morning January 23, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Groveland on May 6, 1929 to the late George and Sadie (Kobylasz) Seliga. She attended schools in Groveland and Haverhill. Following her education Jennie married Stanley Jancewicz in 1950 and enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his passing in 2018.
Jennie was a stay at home mom for many years raising her family. As her children grew, she was employed at Western Electric (now Lucent Technologies) as an Assembler retiring in 1984 after 22 years of service.
She was very involved in her community and faith and was a proud first generation Polish-American. Jennie was a Member and Eucharistic Minister of Immaculate Conception Church and also volunteered at the Soup Kitchen at the church, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and also volunteered her time with her sister Bernie as a performing clown for the Pioneers at many hospitals and Nursing Homes. She enjoyed bowling in several leagues over the years in Newburyport and Amesbury and was a Poll worker for the City of Newburyport for decades.
Jennie is survived by her sons, Robert S. Jancewicz and his wife Donna of Hancock, ME, Joseph G. Jancewicz and his wife Sally of Kensington, NH; grandchildren, Jennifer Ratti and her husband Chris, Robert, Alyson, and Leah Jancewicz; great grandchildren, Kyle, Alyssa and Jaxson Ratti; loving and caring god daughter, Karen Atherton and her husband Peter; sister in law, Mabel Jancewicz; special friend, Marilyn Stone; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Anne Sudol, Joseph, Stanley, Alfred, and Edward Seliga, and Bernice Rembis.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday January 27, 2023 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jennie’s name to St. Vincent De Paul 42 Green Street Newburyport, MA 01950.
