Obituary

Jean M. Perkins, 86, died Monday morning May 10, 2021 at Sea View Retreat in Rowley. She was born in Salem, MA on March 15, 1935 to the late George L. and Ruth A. (Landford) Manthorn. She was raised in Rowley and Newburyport and was a graduate of Newburyport High School Class of 1953

She was employed by several local hospitals including the former Hale Hospital, Anna Jaques, and North Shore Childrens Hospital as an L. P. N. She also ran Balloons Above Newburyport with her husband Henry “Brud” Perkins. In her spare time Jean enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Cape Cod and Maine. She also enjoyed cooking, baking Christmas cookies, wedding cakes and her neighborhood famous Whoopie Pies

Jean is survived by her children, Stephen Perkins of Newburyport , Kate Sloan of Charlotte NC; nephews, Harold, Jack, and Larry Boothroyd; and niece Kathy Boothroyd as well as many loving family members and friends. Jean was pre deceased by her husband Henry “Brud” Perkins in January of 2013.

Services and burial will be held a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Perkins’ family with her arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to Sea View Retreats Resident Activity Fund 50 Mansion Dr Rowley Ma 01969.
