Janice Lorraine Carey, 81, passed away Monday afternoon March 28, 2022 at High Pointe Hospice House Haverhill. She was born in Newburyport on October 20, 1940 to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Schremph) Krekorian. Janice was a lifelong resident of Newburyport graduating from Newburyport High School with the Class of 1958. She married the love of her life Donald Carey on April 2, 1961 and the couple enjoyed just shy of 62 years together.
Janice was primarily a homemaker in her younger years raising their family in Newburyport. As her daughters grew, she was employed at First and Ocean Bank, starting her career as a teller and progressing to her position as the first female Vice President of Operations for the Bank, before her retirement in 2004.
She was an avid quilter making many cherished articles for family and friends over the years. She and Donald spent over 18 years wintering in Barefoot Bay, FL, making many wonderful friendships over those years. Janice loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially going shopping for their birthdays and making Christmas crafts.
Janice is survived by her husband Donald Carey of Newburyport; daughters, Shelly Daniels and her husband Thomas of East Wakefield, NH and Cathleen Gray and her husband Morris of Salisbury; grandchildren, Jennifer DeAngelo, Becky Vieira, Christian Gray, Stephen Daniels, Nathaniel Gray and Matt Daniels; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, T.J., Harper, and Clare; brother, John Krekorian of FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Melinda Carey, as well as one brother and three sisters.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday March 30, 2022 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Her Funeral Service will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday March 31, 2022 in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private at a later date. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT.
