It’s saddens me to announce that James “Jim” P. Whaley Jr. passed away October 28, 2025 after a long battle with peripheral artery disease.
Jim was born March 31, 1967 in Cambridge, MA and grew up in Arlington. He graduated from Minuteman Tech High School in Lexington where he studied automotive mechanics which he practiced until 2020.
Jim married Gillian Greenleaf June 1, 2008 and together they had one son Sean whom he loved with all his heart.
Jim loved singing and got to perform for his brother-in-law Steve’s band Plum Crazy for several years. Jim‘s passion was automobiles of which he owned many over his lifetime, his all-time favorite being his 1973 Mustang that our mom bought brand new when he was only five years old. He also owned and enjoyed motorcycles and jet skis.
Jim is survived by his son Sean, Sean‘s mom Jill, his sister Karen and her husband Steve, and his niece Sammy Quarantiello of Newburyport. He’s also survived by many aunts uncles and cousins. He was predeceased in death by our parents Jim and Linda Whaley and his best friend Brian MacDonald.
This is just a small list of facts about Jim’s life and do not nearly cover the immense impact his wit and humor had on so many people. So please join us and remembering and reminiscing Jim’s life at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM followed by a service in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private at a later date.
