James “Jimmy” K. Waldrip, age 57, passed away on November 6, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn, MA on November 14, 1966 to the parents of Kenneth and Marilyn (Sweeney) Waldrip. Jimmy grew up in Newburyport and attended Newburyport public schools.
An avid outdoorsman, Jimmy loved spending numerous hours on the Merrimack River fishing as well as other outdoor activities. He enjoyed cooking, grilling, and sharing his culinary creations at family gatherings. Jimmy’s love of fishing and the ocean led to his career in the retail seafood industry. He was the proud owner of Gulf of Maine Seafood Co., also known as Jimmi’s Seafood. He enjoyed the success of his business and the connections he made with his customers.
He leaves behind his mother Marilyn (Sweeney) Waldrip of Newburyport; a brother, David Waldrip and his wife Diane of Rockland, MA; sisters Cherylann Kelly of West Newbury, MA; Darlene Dandurant and her husband Ronald of Hampton NH. Jimmy is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews including Gregory Waldrip and his wife Keara; Shaun Waldrip and his wife Mallory; Matthew Thompson; Colin Dandurant and Wife Alexa; Heather Thompson; and Hillary Dandurant. He also leaves five great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father Kenneth Waldrip.
Friends and Family may call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. Jimmy’s Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport, MA.
