James J. Smith, 65, a resident of Newbury died Sunday afternoon October 24, 2021 at Anna Jaques Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Newburyport on June 23, 1956 to the late Donald E. and Glenda (Mottram) Smith. Jim was raised and educated in Newburyport, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.

Following his graduation Jim enlisted in Army National Guard and served our country proudly for over 10 years. He started his family early in life and raised his family in Newburyport. Jim was a Truck Driver his entire life, finishing his career employed by W. B. Mason in 2020.

Jim is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jane (Talley) Smith of Newbury and formerly of Lexington; children, Jamie Noone and her husband James of Salisbury, James Smith II and his wife Brooke of Haverhill, Jessica Smith and her partner Cody Sheppard of Plaistow, and Brandi Gouin of Seabrook; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sisters, Cheryl Willard and her husband Raymond of Merrimac, Marion Kuse of Newburyport, Melody Kelly of Newbury, and Dale O’Brien of Newburyport; step brothers, Donald, Jerry, and Sandy; as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. His Graveside Service will follow at Oakhill Cemetery. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT.
