James Perry Obituary

James A. Perry, 88, died at his home in Epping, NH on Wednesday September 9, 2020. He was born on January 2, 1932 in Annapolis, MD to the late Reginald Crosby and Margaret Viola (Hambrock) Perry. While in grammar school at the age of 9 James worked at his families  tobacco farm hanging and harvesting leaves. He was a graduate of Annapolis High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he served our country proudly during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in CA, where he met his soon to be wife Susan Saxon. The couple lived in several areas around the country raising their family before settling in MA.

He was a “Jack of all Trades” and held many jobs before starting his own company Windfall Classics, restoring many Newburyport area homes. James was a member of the American Legion Post 51 in Epping, NH. He had a passion for building custom fishing rods and lures, as well as restoring furniture. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and tending to his wife’s flower garden, and above all he loved spending time with his family.

James is survived by his partner of 10 years Jeannette Currier and her family; children, Leitha Talmage and her husband John of Epping, NH, Mitchell Owen Perry and his wife Robin of Sanbornville, NH, Laurie L. Cleary and her husband John of Milton, FL, and Kim Nelson and her husband Kevin of Methuen, MA; grandchildren, Lisa Perry, Jim Joubert, Laurie Sue Powers, Darby Keene, Sarah Poskus, Mitchell Owen Perry, Jr, Heather Ralston, Leithia Lee Perry, Kiara Perry, David Talmage, and Emily Talmage; great grandchildren, Ian LeVasseur, Corey LeVasseur, Ryan Perry, Amy Bramhall, Micky Bramhall, and Jesse Gahn; great-great grandchildren, Evelyn LeVasseur, Gabriella Poskus, Mason Poskus, Alison LeVasseur, Peter Ralston, Owen James Perry, Zachary Keene, Anton Keene, Carly Powers and Sheila Powers; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, James was predeceased by his children, Linda Perry and Joseph Perry; grandson, Christopher Keene; sister, Aleitha Janus; and his beloved dog Jake.

Family and friends are invited to his Graveside Service at 11:30 AM on Wednesday September 16, 2020 at Belleville Cemetery in Newburyport. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Perry’s family with his funeral arrangements.
