Irene Denise Theroux

Irene Denise Theroux passed peacefully Monday June 3, 2024 at Brigham Health and Rehabilitation in Newburyport. She was 72 years old. Irene “Iris” was born February 6, 1952 in Holyoke MA to Armand William Theroux and Doris Alma (Rivers) Theroux. She attended school in Belchertown MA graduating from Belchertown High School in 1972. She then attended Holyoke Community College where she studied drafting and structural steel detailing.

Irene was a talented and technical artist who created art her whole life from Macrame and leathercraft to copper styling, chainmail and jewelry with precious stones in the last few years her muse was watercolors. Through all of her artistic endeavors she loved fine gardening. A lasting legacy of her ode to the Goddess is a full moon garden filled with magical plants with an accompanying Crescent moon garden. Her vegetable garden contains rose bushes from her mother’s home and many fresh vegetables. 

She is survived by her brothers Carl Cierpial and wife Diane, William Theroux and his wife Heidi; sisters, Patricia Bock, Lisa Greene and her husband Shawn Greene, and Janet Theroux: very special nieces and nephews, Seamas Greene, Stephanie Zajac and Molly Zajac; as well as many other nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.

In accordance to Irene’s wishes services will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting with her arrangements.
