Irene (Chaisson) Crisham passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 88.
Irene was born to Arthur and Irene (Froton) Chaisson on January 30, 1936, in Newburyport, MA. She grew up in a large loving family, and her vibrant spirit was evident from an early age. Among her many interests she enjoyed searching for antiques with her best friend June, with whom she opened a small antique store in Newburyport. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, knitting, spending time at the beach, and entertaining family and friends. Irene's enjoyment of life was captured in her high school yearbook quote from Newburyport High School's Class of 1953: "She lives and laughs as only she can."
On August 20, 1955, Irene married the love of her life, Robert Crisham, lasting for 36 years until Robert's passing. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and enduring love.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert, and siblings: Anne Marie (Donald) Manson, Leonard (Barbara) Chaisson, Patricia (Oscar) Fern, Suzanne Reed, and Gilbert Chaisson.
Irene's legacy lives on through her children, Michael Crisham and his wife Heidi and Lisa Becker and her husband Don, who were a source of immense pride and joy to her. She was also a loving grandmother to Kyle (Meghan) Crisham, Justin (Brittany) Crisham, Alexandra (Dylan) Johnson, Ashleigh Becker, Garrett Becker, and great-grandson Ronan Johnson. Irene's family meant everything to her, and she cherished time spent with them.
In addition to her immediate family, Irene is survived by her siblings: Paul Chaisson, Arthur (Pat) Chaisson, Carolyn (David) Shepard, Catherine (Scott) Jackson, Lawrence Chaisson, and Elizabeth (Blynn) Tilley, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Irene will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Although she has left this world, her spirit will continue in the hearts of those who loved her.
A private memorial service will be held for family at Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who cherish her memory.
