Gwendolen Everett Perkins was born in New York City, September 19, 1941. She was the eldest daughter of Oliver Hurd Everett and Gwendolen Shether Everett. She had two brothers and a sister.
In her youth, Wendy taught sailing at the American Yacht Club in Rye, New York. Upon graduating from Rye Country Day School, she attended Mount Vernon Junior College in Washington, D.C.
She married her beloved husband Charles M. Perkins in 1961 and they had three children. They lived in various locations around New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. They settled in Boxford, MA in 1975 where they have resided since.
Wendy held a number of jobs in her career. She volunteered as a candy striper, was an assistant director of athletics at the Miss Hall's School in Pittsfield, MA and was a member of The Junior League. She was a real estate professional for over 40 years and was board president of The Greater Lawrence Board of Realtors, now known as Northeast Association of Realtors (NEAR), and was realtor of the year in 2008.
In recent years, she was a founding member of Les Dames Escoffier Northeast Chapter, Chairperson of the Boxford Historic District Committee and Senior Director of Marketing at The Boston Restaurant Group, her husband’s real estate and appraisal business.
Wendy and Charlie split their time between Boxford and Nantucket. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her loving dogs.
She is survived by her husband and three children: Heather Perkins (Ann McNamee), Bonnie Perkins and Matthew Perkins, her brothers, Oliver (Susan) Everett of Eastham, MA, Nicholas (Nancy) Everett, Rye, NY, sister Alice (John) Evans of Wilmington, NC, her five grandchildren, Nicholas (Madison) Mombello, Olivia Mombello, William Mombello, Grace Perkins, Jade Perkins, three great grandchildren, Charlie, Owen, Valerie, and her labradoodle Mollie.
She will be dearly missed.
A Private Celebration of Wendy’s Life will be celebrated on Nantucket in the Spring. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Perkins’ family with her arrangements.
