Gordon P. Mitchell, Jr.

Gordon P. Mitchell, Jr. son of the late Gordon P. and Catherine L. (Cronin) Mitchell, Sr. died Thursday morning May 14, 2020 at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Newburyport.

Born on September 5, 1923 in Newburyport, he was a graduate of Newburyport High School, class of 1941. He was a fifty year employee of the former First & Ocean National Bank of Newburyport and a lifelong parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church.

Gordon is survived by his two sisters, Catherine L “Kay” Doyle and her husband John of Seabrook Beach, NH, and Frances M. “Fran” Munroe of Newburyport; two brothers, James R. Mitchell of Williamsburg, VA, and Donald D. Mitchell and his wife Nancy of West Newbury, with whom he has made his home for some time; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as several great grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond S. Mitchell and Frederick H. Mitchell.

A private graveside committal service will be held by his family at St. Mary Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his loving parents. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Mitchell’s family with his funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gordon’s name to Immaculate Conception Church 42 Green St. Newburyport, MA 01950.
