Gloria Adeline McIntyre (Iacobucci) passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023 at her residence at Atria Merrimack Place in Newburyport with her family at her side. She lived a productive life of many talents for 94 years. A lifelong classical pianist, watercolor painter, and gourmet chef and baker, she also enjoyed the arts and was a collector of the complete works of Chopin and Beethoven, as well as numerous art books on the Masters. Visitors to her home would be welcomed by the soft sound of classical music playing.
Born March 26, 1929, in Boston, she was the daughter of Nicolino and Rosalie Iacobucci (Finizio), one of two children, and was predeceased by her brother. Her fondest childhood memories were spent visiting her cherished first cousins and walking miles on many Sundays with her Auntie Mae to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
She graduated from Somerville High School in 1947 and attended Burdett’s Business College. In 1950 she married Alfred Laughlin McIntyre (d. 1967) and raised two daughters in Reading, MA. Her professional life later focused on banking and brokerage in an administrative capacity, until she retired in 1987 to spend time at her homes in Ft. Myers Beach, FL, and Hampton Falls, NH. Gloria also loved spending the month of September for many years in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy.
In early retirement, she enjoyed being a volunteer as a Guardian Ad Litem for the state of FL, to advocate for vulnerable children under the court’s jurisdiction. She was an annual gardener to ensure a prolific season of homemade pesto and strawberry jam, and generously distributed both every summer to neighbors, and family. Her summers were also filled with sunny days at North Beach with her family and friends, as well as cheering on her favorite Boston Red Sox players.
Gloria leaves behind her daughter Pamela McIntyre Drouin (partner Ken Bohlin), and her beloved granddaughter Madeleine McIntyre Drouin, both of whom provided love, care and support throughout her long life, her niece Nora Flotteron (Joe), grandniece, grandnephews, great grandnephews, and many dear friends.
Family and friends may call on Monday May 1, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Her Funeral Service will be Celebrated in the Funeral Home immediately following the calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date.
