Gayden Marshall Obituary

Gayden Marshall, 81, died early Thursday morning November 28, 2019 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. He was born on October 5, 1938 in Newburyport to the late Joseph and Edith (Clough) Marshall. Gayden was a 1958 graduate of Newburyport High School, following his graduation he married Shirley Kent and the couple settled in Newburyport to raise their family. 

Gayden was employed at Towle Silversmith, Old Newbury Crafters, and Canapes before retiring in 2001 from Gould Shawmut after over 20 years. He was a “Die Hard’ Newburyport Clippers football player and fan, attending every game, home and away. Was a competitive candlepin bowler in his days.   Gayden enjoyed painting in oil and wood carving in his spare time, he also enjoyed freshwater fishing and being a member of the Newburyport Boat Club.    Above all he loved spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Gayden is survived by his wife of 61 years Shirley (Kent) Marshall of Newburyport; daughters, Gayla Chase and her husband Stephen of Danvers MA, and Julie Williams and her husband Raymond of Plaistow NH; grandchildren, Bethany Osborne and her husband Brian, Amanda Chase and her fiancé Gio DiGiacomo, Christopher Williams, and Maggie Williams; great grandchildren, Lucy and Lila Osborne; siblings, Lorraine Bear, Gloria Williams, Gordon Marshall and his wife Judith, Sandra Gagnon, Brian Marshall and his wife Najla, Alan Marshall, and Andrea Eaton and her husband Bruce; sister-in-law, Pauline Marshall; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gayden was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph E. Marshall, Jr., Lawrence Marshall, Wayne Marshall, and Raelene Piirainen.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday December 4, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday December 5, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at Belleville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gayden’s name to Charity of ones choice.
