Gail Bishop-Davis Obituary

Gail Bishop-Davis, of Newburyport Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on May 8th, 2026 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Gail was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and niece. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Mark Davis, and their son, Stephen, both of Newburyport. She is also survived by her sisters, Laurie Hendrix and Rebekah Kanelos (Jim), and her brother, Sean Bishop (Evy), as well as her nieces, nephews, & beloved in- laws.

Born in 1955 in North Adams to Beatrice and Walter Bishop, Gail graduated from Drury High School before continuing her education at Union College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature cum laude in 1977. Gail was employed by Fidelity Investments as a bond trader, before working for Shawmut Bank as an officer of the bank in their brokerage division. Prior to the birth of her son, Stephen she worked as a systems and conversion analyst for Fidelity Investments.

A longtime congregant of St. Paul’s Church, Gail served as a member of the vestry, a Eucharist minister and leader and teacher in the Children’s Sunday School program. Gail had an abiding love of animals, particularly cats and dogs, and had a deep appreciation for art as well as many genres of music and literature. Gail thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and other forms of needlework, and could often be found with a project bag, a cat, and a sunny spot on any given afternoon. Gail was especially grateful for the care and support she received from her oncology team at Massachusetts General Hospital.

An Episcopal liturgical service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Private burial will take place at a later date.
