Francis J. “Doc” Blanchard, Jr. 86, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021 at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. Francis was born in Newburyport on August 24, 1935 to the late Francis J. and Mary M. (Arsenault) Blanchard. He was a lifelong resident of Newburyport and a graduate of Newburyport High School.
Following his graduation Francis was employed as a Train Engineer for the Boston and Maine Railroad. He then moved on to a career in construction, eventually retiring in 1994 as a Crane Operator for the Hub Foundation.
He was a member of the North End Boat Club as well as the Newburyport Elks #909.
Francis was predeceased by his loving wife Pauline R. (Martineau) Blanchard in December of 2003. He is survived by his children, Diana Jordan of Nevada, Karen Weir of Salisbury, Neil Jordan and his wife Kim of Ohio, and Patti St. Pierre of Newburyport; grandchildren, Kendall, Amanda, Nicole, Alec, Ashley, Brittany, and Christopher; great grandchildren, Zoey, Skylar, Anslee, Isabel, Finn, and Robert John; siblings, Joseph and Donald Blanchard; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his siblings, John Blanchard and Marie Francoeur.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday December 29, 2021 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT. His Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM at St. May’s Cemetery on Thursday December 30, 2021. Please meet at the Cemetery.
