Frances G. Ronan (Kelleher), 97, of Newburyport, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born March 12, 1928, Frances was the beloved daughter of Cornelius “Frank” Kelleher and Katherine Kelleher (MacIsaac). She graduated from Newburyport High School in 1946 and went on to take bookkeeping classes at Merrimack College in Andover, MA—an early reflection of her keen mind and practical nature.
In her twenties, Frances followed a spiritual calling and studied to become a nun. Though she ultimately chose a different path in order to remain close to her family, her early devotion reflected the deep compassion and quiet strength that she carried throughout her life. She worked as a secretary at Hytron in Newburyport before purchasing her first home on Plum Island, where she lived until she met her husband, John “Jack” Ronan.
Frances and Jack were married on August 2, 1958, and shared 66 devoted years together. She lovingly raised their two children, John and Theresa, as a full-time mother. Later, she continued her lifelong care for others by working as a hospice secretary until her retirement in 1990.
Frances is survived by her son John Ronan, daughter Theresa Ronan, and her cherished grandchildren: Kamalea, Krystal, Heather, and Meganne. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Frances will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her deep faith, and the enduring love she shared with her family and all who knew her.
