Elwilda "Wid" Christoph

Elwilda “Wid” Christoph, 88, a resident of Wolfeboro Bay, Wolfeboro, NH, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2022 after a period of declining health.

Elwilda was born on December 7, 1933 in Haverhill, MA and was raised by her mother Josephine (Frascone) Teel and step-father Robert Teel. She also spent a lot of time with her grandparents Lorenzo and Fannie Frascone, Aunt Peg and Uncle Tom.

Elwilda attended Newburyport High School and later in life earned her GED. She met the love of her life Frank “Chris” Christoph on Plum Island where he was stationed with the Coast Guard. They married in 1949. Her favorite memory was the years they spent on Thatcher’s Island where he was the Lighthouse Keeper. His transfers took them around the Country before settling in Barrington, RI in 1969. She loved boating, bowling, and raising her family.  She was their biggest cheerleader for all their activities and accomplishments. Sadly, divorced in 1984, she was predeceased by her former husband in 2003, neither remarried.

Elwilda found a career in retail at the age of 55 and worked several years for Hallmark in Barrington, RI. She eventually relocated to Seabrook, NH nearer her family, where she worked and retired from Fashion Bug at age 75.

Elwilda was devoted to her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She was a great cook and loved to host family dinners and holidays. She will be remembered for her unconditional love of her family, her sense of humor, and her warm smile.

She will be forever in our hearts and we will think of her when we go to the beach, eat spaghetti, meatballs and sausage, chat over a cup of coffee, play a game of checkers, see a lighthouse, or sit on a bench in Haines Park eating grinders.

She will be sadly missed by her devoted daughter and best friend, Debbie Christoph Hershey and her husband Dave of Alton, NH; granddaughter and other best friend, Rebecca Kaplan and her husband Mike, and their son Caleb of Barrington, RI; precious grandson, David Hershey, Jr. and his significant other Stephanie Kitsios of Hopkinton, NH. Her Texas family includes granddaughter Colleen Castroman and her husband Jonovan and their sons Brandon and Jacob; grandson, Frank Christoph III and his son Grayson. She sadly leaves her son, Frank Christoph, Jr. and his wife Lou of Tampa, FL; as well as brothers, Ronald Teel and his wife Nancy, Robert “Fella” Teel and his wife Lynn; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elwilda was predeceased by her sisters, Susan McClellan and Gertrude “Teen” Patnaude.

Family and friends are invited to Mrs. Christoph’s Funeral Service at 10:30 AM on Friday October 21, 2022 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950, followed by burial at Belleville Cemetery. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT.
