Ellen E. Jones

Ellen E. Jones, 74, a resident of Amesbury, died early Tuesday evening January 17, 2023, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in NH with family by her side. She was born in Newburyport on May 5, 1948, to the late William and Mary (Preble) Jones. Ellen was raised and educated in Newburyport, graduating from Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Newburyport High School.

Following her graduation, Ellen was employed as a Driver for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts where she lovingly transported patients for the Danvers and Tewksbury Hospitals for over 40 years until she retired in 2013. Ellen was passionate about sports, animals, and her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her adoring nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor, laugh and the joy she found in simple, everyday things.

Ellen is survived by her siblings, Robert Jones of Newburyport, Barbara Kelso of Amesbury; sister-in-law, Bonnie Maynard; brother-in-law, Edward Kelso; nieces and nephews, Nathan Jones, Korey Kelso and his wife Sara, Ryan Jones and his wife Cheryl, Lindsay George and her husband Justin and Brett Kelso and his wife Emelie; grand nieces and nephews, Caleb, Abigail, and Cody George, and Connor Jones.

Services and burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Miss Jones’ family with her arrangements.
