Edwin "Eddie" Mehrmann Obituary

Edwin “Eddie” E. Mehrmann, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 53 after a brief illness. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, steady loyalty, and a generous heart.

Eddie was born on August 23, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Mary “Maureen” P. Ferraro and L. Edwin Mehrmann. Eddie was raised alongside his brothers, John and Michael, and shared a deep bond with family, which he carried throughout his life. His early years were spent in Methuen, Massachusetts, where he attended public schools and developed a love for learning, a calm presence, and a sly sense of humor.

After graduating from the University of Texas, Eddie answered a higher calling, enlisting in the United States military. His honorable service in the Air Force, and later the National Guard, reflected the values Eddie lived by:  humility, commitment, and integrity. After his service, which included a tour in Afghanistan, Eddie continued his dedication to the public good, working for the State of Texas in recent years.

Though a man of few words, Eddie never failed to show up for those he loved. He was a loving son to his mother, Maureen, a cherished brother to Michael Mehrmann and John Hopkins, an adoring uncle and steady presence in the lives of his nephews, Matthew Hopkins (Lauren Lee) and Devin Hopkins, and a beloved brother-in-law to John’s wife, Janet Witte. Eddie’s quiet pride in his family's accomplishments was always clear. He will be deeply missed.

Eddie’s life will be honored with a Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church 42 Green Street, Newburyport, MA, followed by burial with Military Honors at Oakhill Cemetery.
