After enduring a long illness, Edwin Perrott passed away on Monday November 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born on January 28, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY. He attended the State University of New York in Oswego and was a member of the fraternity Phi Sigma Phi which led to many lifelong friends. For a time he lived in Colorado, later moving to Newton, MA where he received his Masters in Counseling from Northeastern University. He then settled in Amesbury and later, on Plum Island.
A skilled craftsman and artist, Ed could build or repair most anything. He taught industrial arts and woodworking at Amesbury High School and later art to the children of Cashman Elementary School in Amesbury, a position he later confessed to having been his favorite time as an educator. Afterward he became the Director of Career and Vocational Services at Harbor Schools and was dedicated to at-risk students, this being appropriate in that he always championed for those in need.
Once an avid boater, Ed loved being at the beach with his kids, and treasured happy memories of tuna fishing on his boat Blue Finn with his close friends. He enjoyed Asian art, skiing the White Mountains, and later in life he taught himself to play the guitar, with a preference for the blues. He loved a good barbecue, Budweiser, and a fine pair of cowboy boots.
A loving father and grandfather, he leaves behind his cherished children, his daughter Nissa Whittle, her husband Brit, and their daughters Vienna and Lumi of Princeton NJ, as well as his son Alex Perrott, his wife Jamie Connor, and their children Livia and Vander of Newburyport. He also leaves a beloved longtime companion, Patricia Gallagher, her son John Ryan Gallagher, his wife Jenny, and their daughters, Annabelle and Willow, all of Newburyport. He leaves a sister, Jean Freeman of Islip NY, and his former wife, Linda Perrott of Amesbury, who assisted him with loving care in his final days. He was predeceased by his brother Richard, and brother-in-law Peter.
Ed was and is now an inspiration for his perseverance and strength. He overcame many health battles with grace and dignity. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Perrott’s family with his arrangements.
