Edward Kelleher Obituary

Edward Kelleher of Newburyport, MA, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, after a brief illness, at Portsmouth Hospital in New Hampshire.

Ed was born in Newburyport, MA, on May 28, 1942, to the late C. Henry Kelleher and Elizabeth (Royan) Kelleher. As the youngest of seven boys, Ed is survived by his brother Bob and predeceased by brothers Bill, Jake, Joe, Jerry, and Dick. Ed graduated from Newburyport High School in 1960, met and married the love of his life, Joyce Wilson, and remained in Newburyport the rest of his life, raising their two children, Sherry and Christopher. Throughout his working years, Ed was known as a man who could not be “out worked.” He spent many years as a piece worker at the Bailey Manufacturing Company and then at Owens-Illinois Manufacturing from which he retired after almost 30 years of labor. Outside of work, Ed was an avid sports fan, following college football and always ready to discuss and debate the latest scores, players, and trades of the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and Red Sox. His most marked trait, however, was his devotion to his family - his parents, his brothers and their wives and families, and, most importantly, to his beloved Joyce. Ed was a proud Dad and loved being a Grampy. Sherry, her husband Brian, and daughter Tory, survive Ed. Chris, his husband Shawn, and daughter Miranda, also survive Ed. He kept current with the lives of his many nieces and nephews and all will dearly miss him.
