Dr. Vincent J. Russo, 84, of Newbury, MA passed away peacefully March 27, 2024, at Beverly Hospital surrounded by his family following a brief illness. Born April 15, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, Vince was the eldest child of the late Joseph V. and Yolanda (D’Ambrosio) Russo. He grew up in the Bronx, NY, graduated from De Witt Clinton High School in 1956 and Columbia University in 1960. He was a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine in 1964 and performed his residency at Boston City Hospital. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy and Army.
Vince met Sheila Kay Roos, the love of his life, while studying at BU Med School. They were married for 55 years and cherished their family above all, including 4 children, 15 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. Vince also cultivated his friendships and enjoyed art, music, good food, Plum Island, and skiing. He was known for his booming laugh, elaborate storytelling, and passion for cars.
Vince's legacy includes his dedication as a caring surgeon, an enthusiastic town selectman, and a constant mentor who shared his wisdom freely. Just days before his passing, he was giving driving tips, advising on medical procedures, and encouraging hope.
