Dorothy “Dot” Pearl (Spencer) Boucher of Beverly, formerly of Newburyport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly with her son and daughter by her side.
Dorothy was born in Portsmouth, NH on January 20, 1927 to the late Lewis G. and Alice (Rand) Spencer. She graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1944 and went to work in Newburyport at Hytron Corporation where she met her husband, the late William H. Boucher. After the birth of her first son, she became a full-time homemaker and raised 3 children.
At 50 years old, Dorothy decided it was time for a second career. She got her driver’s license and applied for positions at Anna Jacques Hospital where she was employed initially as a housekeeper and then as a medical records clerk until her retirement at the age of 62.
Dorothy enjoyed traveling and made several trips with friends and family over the years. She loved cats and opened her home to many feline friends over the course of her life.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband William H. Boucher and son Mark S. Boucher. She was also predeceased by her siblings Lewis G. Spencer, Jr., Herbert Spencer, Marilyn P. Spencer, and Hilda (Johnson) Wood. Dorothy is survived by her son William S. Boucher of Beverly and her daughter Diane M. Boucher and husband Ralph Peteranderl of Hamilton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Ehrlich and husband Michael of Yorktown, VA, Jessica Armendariz and husband Michael of Raeford, NC, Angelique Koszuta and husband Ted of Caledonia, WI, Joshua Gurney of Newburyport, MA, and Katarina Peteranderl of Hamilton, MA, as well as 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM to Noon on Saturday August 10, 2024 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport, her Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home following the calling hours. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport.
