Doris Marie Dumont of 142B Low St. Newburyport, MA passed away peacefully Tuesday March 15, 2022.
Doris was born in Newburyport on October 4, 1932, a twin.
She was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Anna (Pomerleau) Dumont and stepdaughter of the late Marie Anne Grenier Dumont.
Doris’ love of travel drew her to the airline industry. She started with American Airlines in 1956 in New York. Doris was hired by Dean J. Pelletier of Newbury Jr. College to help start evening travel courses in Boston in 1970 which was one of the first offered in the area. Students came from Nigeria, Japan, and Scandinavia to train with Doris and eventually return to their home countries to open their own travel businesses.
She retired from the industry with Scandinavian Airlines in Boston in 1988. After retiring from the the airline industry, Doris worked for Boston Financial Data Service in Quincy and in 1999 she returned to Newburyport and worked briefly for Lombardi Oil and Alden Merrell Cheesecake Company.
Doris filled her free time with her passions of ballroom dancing, mahjong, playing piano and having conversations with friends in her French/Canadian dialect. Doris loved spending time with her family and organizing family get togethers.
She is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Jamrog, Annette Simmons, Louise Mason, and Michelle Racioppi all of Newburyport, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving twin sister Dorothy Creeden of Rocky Hills, CT, and her brothers, Frank J. Dumont, Paul A. Dumont, and John W. Dumont of Monmouth, ME.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Saturday May 7, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport. Following her Mass there will be a reception for those that wish to attend at the function area below The Church of Christ 867 Lafayette Rd. Seabrook, NH. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Ms. Dumont’s family with her arrangements.
