Donald Mitchell Obituary

Donald D. Mitchell, a native of Newburyport, Massachusetts, son of the late Gordon P. And Catherine L. (Cronin) Mitchell, passed into Eternal Life on Christmas morning, days before his 87th birthday.

He was a life long parishioner of Holy Redeemer Parish. As a young married man, he served his country in the Army National Guard.

The majority of his years were spent proudly serving the Newburyport Institution for Savings Bank. A remarkable 53 years; 43 years as an employee and 13 years as its president retiring in 2004, and 10 additional years serving on its boards.

He will be greatly missed by his family, whom he loved so well. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend for over 60 years, Nancy (Pearson); his three grown children and their spouses, as well as his 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Daughter, Jenifer D. Dunlap and husband Michael Parquette; daughter, Laura J. Lambert and husband Eric; and son, Gordon F. Mitchell and wife Lynita (Morin.)

He is, also, survived by his Sister-in-law Irene Mitchell, and many nieces and nephews, as well as, several grand nieces and nephews.

Donald was predeceased by his brothers, Gordon P. Mitchell, Raymond S. Mitchell, Frederick H. Mitchell and James R. Mitchell and his wife Karen, as well as, his two sisters, Catherine L. Doyle and her husband John, and Frances M. Munroe, as well as, two nieces, one nephew and two grand nephews.

Funeral Services will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Mitchell’s family with his arrangements.
