Cynthia Frude Obituary

Cynthia Margaret Frude, 86 years old, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 where she resided in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Born in Greenfield, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Edward Leroy Frude and Carolyn Sprague (Potter) Frude.  She completed her education at Northeastern University and at the University of Massachusetts in both Boston and Amherst, after having a primary and secondary education in her hometown schools at which her parents taught in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.  Her father was the very first Massachusetts Teacher of the Year, as science teacher at Arms Academy.

She was the owner of Woolcott & Co., a needle crafts shop in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Cynthia was an avid knitter, and those who were fortunate enough to be recipients treasure their scarves, sweaters, mittens, throws, and especially Christmas stockings.

A longtime resident of Cambridge, Cynthia enjoyed spending time with her friends and neighbors, regularly hosting knitting circles in her home, as well as impromptu get-togethers on her back porch.  She was a devoted cat mom and animal lover and was a supporter of the Animal Rescue League of Boston, both during her life and posthumously.

She will be remembered for her quick wit and unique personality.

She is survived by her niece Pamela VandenBussche and nephews Evan Bouras and Edward Bouras, and their spouses and children.  She was predeceased by her parents and sister Sandra Carolyn (Frude) Bouras, and her beloved cat "Pretty".

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home is assisting Ms. Frude’s family with her arrangements.
