Colette Diane (Bouchard) Welch, 73, of Boxford, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished beyond measure. Born on June 13, 1952, in Salem, MA, Colette lived a life defined by grace, devotion, compassion, & timeless elegance.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Cleo Bouchard & Theresa (Dionne) Bouchard. A proud graduate of Salem High School, Colette graduated with honors, carrying throughout her life the intelligence, poise & determination that would become hallmarks of her character.
Known by many as a true fashion icon, Colette had a remarkable sense of style & beauty that reflected her vibrant spirit. Beyond her elegance, she was deeply admired for her warmth, kindness & ability to make everyone around her feel welcome & valued.
For more than 30 years, Colette was a respected realtor & devoted resident of West Newbury, where she built lasting friendships & became deeply immersed in her community. Her faith was central to her life. As a devoted Catholic, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to volunteer work, parish life & countless social & charitable causes. She gave generously of her time, her heart & her unwavering support to those around her.
Above all else, Colette’s greatest joy was her family. She shared 52 beautiful years of marriage with her loving husband, Steven Welch, whose partnership & devotion were the foundation of her life. She was a proud & loving mother to her daughter, Rachel Mello & son-in-law David. Her grandchildren, Victoria & Nicholas, were her entire universe — the lights of her life who brought her immeasurable pride, joy, & love every single day.
She is also survived by her sister, Celeste Nimblett & her husband Tim; her sister, Denise Ames & her husband Randy; her brother, Donald Bouchard; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members & dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her presence.
Colette will be remembered for her elegance, her faith, her generosity & the extraordinary love she gave so freely to her family & community. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends may call on Thursday May 28, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Twomey. LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Her Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday May 29, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Newburyport.
