Clinton Ilsley Gove passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of February 9, 2024.  Born on August 9, 1934, Clinton was the son of Lauris and Mary Ilsley Gove.  He grew up in Newbury, MA and graduated from Governor Dummer Academy.  After graduating high school he married Jane Gramstorff.  He spent many years working as a Superintendent for the Lane Construction Corporation.  He retired young and pursued a short career in Real Estate and construction.  At the age of 80 he moved to Florida and pursued his real passion in life as an artist designing jewelry, sculpture and painting.

Clinton leaves his 3 children from his marriage to Jane; Clinton Ilsley Gove Jr., Michelle Gove and her partner Mary Ann Cuddihee and Scott Gramstorff Gove and his wife Patty.  He also leaves his 2 grandchildren; Kelly Ann Gove and her fiancé Chris Cloutier and Colton Gramstorff Gove and his fiancé Megan Wooley and Kelly and Colton’s mother Cheryl Gove. He leaves 3 great grandchildren as well; Ryder Takis, Vivian Wooley and Myla Markey.

Passionate in everything he did, Clinton was an avid reader, sometimes reading 3 or 4 books simultaneously.  His never ending curiosity was evident as he loved to discuss and debate.  Some of his favorite topics included economics, the origins of modern day medicine, the music of the 60’s & 70’s and its impact on our culture and the future of the children in today’s society.  And he was never shy to offer his opinion!

A private burial will take place in the spring in Newbury MA. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Gove’s family with his arrangements.
