Chrysanthe M. Machiros, 87 passed from us on Tuesday morning, January 5. She was born to Socrates and Maria (Malamos) Machiros on April 13, 1933 in Peabody, MA. She attended high school in Peabody and later married Stephen C. Patrinos. While raising their son, she attended Essex Aggie and attained a degree in Dietary Nutrition.
She worked in the Nutrition department in various nursing homes throughout her career and in 1980 began a 16 year tenure at Anna Jacques Hospital within their Nutrition department, a position she loved and enjoyed every single day until her retirement in 1996.
Chrysanthe was a faithful member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church as well as the Greek Ladies Aid Society and would be at the Church baking for every festival and GLAS event. She was well known and admired for her culinary talents and took great delight in baking the traditional "Vasilopita" bread in honor of St. Basile every New Year's Day. She will be forever remembered for kindness and caring to all she knew. Chrysanthe was also extremely proud of her Greek heritage but her greatest pride and joy was her devoted son, Christos.
In addition to her son, Christos S Patrinos, she is survived by her sister Eva Alexis of Peabody, MA, sister-in-law Joyce Machiros of Newburyport, MA, nephew Gary (Leslie) Machiros and their children Matthew and Samuel, cousins James, John and Nicholas Plasteras, Andrea Sargent, and many other close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Angelo Machiros, and sister Helen Kramnick.
