Christopher Reiner Obituary

Christopher Michael Reiner, of Newbury, MA passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 50 on January 14, 2022 after his courageous battle with cancer. His positivity throughout his illness was both contagious and inspiring. Despite many surgeries and treatments, he remained resolute in his desire to live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment.

Chris was born in Detroit, MI in 1971 and grew up in Wappingers Falls, NY. He graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1989 followed by the University of Vermont in 1993 with a degree in electrical engineering; he later earned an MBA from Babson College. He spent 30 years in technology sales and business development, focused on mobile technologies. Chris’s passion for people and entrepreneurship made him happiest leading teams for start-up companies, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Global Business Development at Hiya.

But it was his family that was Chris’s true love. He was an adoring husband to Allison, and the proud father of two amazing kids, Elsie and Emmett. Together Chris and Allison found their forever home in a close-knit neighborhood of friends that deepened their strong love for each other and their vision of their future. Chris was dedicated to family activities, especially enjoying cuddle time, movies and reading with his little turkeys, Elsie and Emmett. They loved swimming, beach adventures and trips. Chris was an intelligent man who knew so much about the world and current events, and he never missed a day of reading the Wall Street Journal in its entirety. Chris was the absolute happiest when surrounded by family and friends, especially if there was golf, skiing, and good food and wine involved. Although he grew up in New York, Chris considered himself a true New Englander, even converting to become an avid Patriots fan.

Chris is survived by his wife of more than 10 years, Allison, daughter Elsie and son Emmett; his mother, Judy Reiner and siblings Teri Massey (Jim), Tim Reiner, Lynne Challender (Jerry) and Molly Lappen (Brian) along with many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.  He is preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Reiner.

Family and friends may call from 4-8pm on Friday, January 21st at Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA.  THERE IS NO LONGER PARKING BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT. His Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, January 22nd at 10:30am at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport followed by burial at Oakhill Cemetery.

Chris was the kindest, strongest, most determined and motivated human anyone could meet — to say he was a friend to many is an understatement -- he was a friend to all.

May we all remember Chris and forever be #ReinerStrong.
