Christopher Clark Cheney

Christopher Cheney of West Newbury, MA was born September 6, 1962 in North Kingstown, RI and passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023.  He was the beloved husband of surviving wife Karen Diombala Cheney of West Newbury, MA. Son of Benjamin Lawton and Mary Ann Cheney of Irmo, SC. Loving father to Brittany Cheney and Noah Cheney of Hampton, NH. Dear brother to William Cheney of Cape Coral, FL, Charles Cheney of Rochester, MN, and Laura Cheney Heins of Irmo, SC. He was survived by the mother of his children Cynthia Clark of Hampton, NH. Survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. And cherished by his dog Teddy of West Newbury, MA.

Chris had the biggest heart you’d ever know. Whether you were the bank teller, neighbor, pharmacist, teacher to his children, police officer, a childhood friend, and everything in between he would never hesitate to greet you with a big hug and say ‘I Love You’.  Anyone who has encountered him, big or small, probably has a story of his lending a helping hand or making them laugh. Truly one of a kind.

If animals could talk, they would have their stories of him too, like stopping traffic to help a tortoise cross the road.  He loved animals and they had an affinity for him. Lost neighborhood dogs always ended up in his backyard. He always held his pets Smoky the cat, dogs Bruin and Kelsey close to his heart.

A graduate of Denison University, he was a born entrepreneur and salesman. He had a brilliant and inventive mind. He obtained one patent and had many other innovative ideas in the works.

He embraced life and approached every new interest with passion. He found the most joy in driving his tractors, working the land and restoring his 1772 home where he and his wife resided.
