Cheryl Hawkes Obituary

Cheryl Hawkes

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Cheryl Hawkes, loving and devoted wife, mother, Grammy, sister, and friend to all whose lives she touched.  She left this world suddenly on September 19, 2021 at age 62.

Cheryl was born to the late Mary Ann and Roger Blanchette on June 30, 1959.  As a teenager she met the love of her life, Johnny G. Hawkes, and married him on June 3 1978.  They started a family shortly after and together they created a bond that would be inseparable between parent and child. They were married 43 years.

Cheryl was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment that she spent with them.  She was more than happy to be the central figure in their lives growing up and anyone who knew her could see they were the stars in her eyes, which is all that ever mattered to her.

She worked many hours when they were young so that they could do the things they loved like dancing and sports, while still cooking their dinners and making school lunches for them every day.  Her joy was to see them happy at doing whatever their heart desired and enjoying life, and life they did enjoy.

Cheryl’s true passion and delight was being Grammy to Jordan (age 11), Colby (age 8) and Audrey (age 1).  The way that her face would light up every time she saw them is unforgettable.  She always made sure that she had their favorite snacks or meals stocked and ready for them when they visited.  Every single holiday, small or big, she would send her grandchildren a card in the mail with some money in it.  Cheryl never missed one holiday in 11 years as a Grammy.

Cheryl not only loved her family and friends but also had a soft spot for any animals.  One of her dreams was to open a rescue center and help any type of animal who needed it.  The pets she had in her life were easily loved like a human because that’s how much love Cheryl had to give.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Johnny G. Hawkes.  Their son, Johnny P. Hawkes, his wife Sara and their sons, Jordan and Colby.  Daughter Stephanie Racette and husband Matthew.  Daughter Rachel Saboo, her husband Steven and their daughter, Audrey.

She is also survived by her sisters, Michelle, Melissa, and Leslie.  Brothers, Alec, Ricky, Wayne, and many nieces and nephews.
