Charles Michael Butler passed away on April 2, 2023, at Hight Pointe House in Haverhill after a courageous battle with dementia. He was born in Weymouth, MA on September 15, 1946. He was the first-born son of the late Lucille and Charles Butler and was predeceased by his younger brother Donald Butler of Marshfield.
Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Weymouth High School and earned his degree from Stonehill College in 1968. A veteran of the US Navy he served as a signalman third class on the USS Dale, DLG-19 from 1971-1973. He worked many years for Sears Roebuck and Co, BayBank, and retired in 2008 from the MBTA Credit Union.
He was married to Mary Beth (Foley) Butler for over 50 years. Together they raised two daughters, Lori Ann and Kimberly. He also leaves behind his son-in-law Michael Bartlett and granddaughter Allison Bartlett as well as beloved extended family, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
For many years he was active in the community volunteering as a Special Olympic coach for both swimming and cross-country skiing and was inducted into the Massachusetts Special Olympics Hall of Fame. Charlie was also a volunteer for the Newburyport Figure Skating Club and at Opportunity Works. He loved all Boston sports, especially the Bruins and Patriots. Charlie enjoyed many family adventures to all parts of the country and never missed a chance to ride a roller coaster. He will be greatly missed by his family.

His Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at Star of the Sea Church in Salisbury, followed by burial at Bartlett Cemetery in Amesbury.
