Charles A. Boland, Jr.

Charles Aloysius Boland Jr., died peacefully in Newburyport, MA, on February 9th, 2023. He was born on May 5, 1928 in Scranton, PA and graduated from The University of Scranton. Charlie served in the army for a period of time, and after working as a football coach and teacher in Washington DC, he worked as a salesperson in the automotive industry, and volunteered as a teacher in his parish's CCD program and also as a coach for youth sports in King of Prussia, where he settled in Pennsylvania to raise his family with his wife, Joyce Boland, who died in 2018. Charlie and Joyce were married for 53 years. He leaves behind his children and grandchildren: his son Dan Boland, of Los Angeles, CA, daughter Eileen Brehm and her sons, Noah and Grayson, of Greenwich, CT, his son Chris Boland and his wife Sheryl Boland and their children Kevin, Kathryn, Colin and Maeve, of Dover, MA, and his daughter, Nancy Durkee and her husband Carlton Durkee, and their children Hannah, Sarah and Lucas, of Newburyport, MA. His family is grateful to all of the caregivers that supported Charlie.

A small ceremony filled with beautiful music and prayer was held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport, followed by a burial service with military honors. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Medicins Sans Frontierers/Doctors without Borders, an organization providing medical care to earthquake survivors in Turkey and Syria.
