Cecelia D. Wegrzyn, 91, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at her home in West Newbury surrounded by her family.
Cecelia was born in Chicago, Illinois on the 10th of December, 1930 to John and Jeanette Komperda. She was the 9th child in a family of 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
After graduating from high school she married M/Sgt Stanley M. Wegrzyn and raised two sons Charles and Michael. During her time in the U.S. Army, she traveled to Germany twice, Chicago and Virginia. After Stanley retired from the Army, she moved back to Chicago for a while before moving to West Newbury.
After moving to West Newbury she helped raise her 4 grandchildren, worked in various retail positions, and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking with her grandchildren. Many times when tradesmen showed up at the house she would whip up her homemade pizza, and that endeared them to her. Other times she could be found walking her favorite dog Shadow, visiting local friends, and spending time at the G.A.R. Library with her grandchildren.
Cecelia is survived by her brother Richard in Victoria Texas, her son Charles of West Newbury, her 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home is assisting Mrs. Wegrzyn’s family with her funeral arrangements.
