Catherine "Cathy" Vaughn

Our dear friend, family member, colleague, and patient Catherine/Cathy passed away peacefully shortly after midnight on March 8, 2024. Her loving brother Charlie Vaughn was at her side as she peacefully died at Mass General Hospital. She had bravely endured a long battle with multiple chronic diseases as well as the sequelae to several falls.

Many of us had the distinct pleasure of experiencing her extraordinary knowledge base, insight into human behavior, sense of humor, and elegant style. She reached out and helped other individuals and groups who were in need of representation, guidance, and help, as a member of and board member of several organizations including CRI in Boston, a board member of the Massachusetts Statewide Consumer Advisory Board, and she was also appointed by the Mayor of Boston to serve on the Ryan White Planning Council.

She had several close friends, many admirers, and is survived by four sisters (Terri, Judy, Charlene, and Diane) a brother (Charlie) and his wife Ann, and several nieces and nephews. She was attended to by the following dedicated and caring medical providers, including her PC doc, Laura Kogelman, MD; Sean Harford, MD; Sucharita Kher; Laticco Robinson, PA; Harmony Allison, MD; Bichau Nguyen, MD; Victoria Billero, MD; Matthew Gordon, MD; Nicole Orr, MD; Pay Sales,MD; and Yong Zahn, MD as well as other RNs, and PAs.

Catherine wil be sincerely missed by the many who have known her. We all respect her, and have valued her and our interactions with her. May we carry the memories which we have of and for her, for a long time. Thank you Catherine/Cathy and we have and send loving thoughts of "farewell."

Many interests filled Catherine's life including her interest in fashion and modeling, as she was one of the youngest contestants in one of the Miss Massachusetts pageants in the 1960s. She had a love of and owned several unusual and "high end" cars. Celebrities, movies and many TV series were of great interest to her including actors: Gerard Butler, Cary Grant, Cillian Murphy, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Clair Danes, Frances McDormand, and Glenn Close. She ran her own telephone answering service and had purchased her own real estate when she was in her early 20s. She had a keen interest in fine art and antiques, and owned a number of collectable pieces which she loved.
