Obituary

Carole Frances (Furbush) Stanwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 2, 2023 with her family by her side.  She was born on February 27, 1948, in Newburyport Massachusetts. Her parents were Ralph Morse Furbush and Abbie Robina (Blaisdell) Furbush. Carole grew up in Salisbury on Dock Lane and has lived on Dock Lane most of her life. She was the youngest of 8 children.  She was predeceased by 6 of her siblings, Ralph Furbush, Marilyn Bishop, Melvin Furbush, Jack Furbush, Donna Bishop and Donald Furbush.  She is survived by her sister Shirley Merrill, her daughter, Dawn Marie (Stanwood) Murnahan, and her son, Theodore Parker Stanwood Jr. (Teddy), her daughter in law, Pauline (McGee) Stanwood, her son in law, Everett (Sam) Murnahan, her four grandchildren, George McGee, Cecelia McGee, Desiree Phillips, and Kaitlin Murnahan, and four great grandchildren, Destany Phillips, Damien Phillips, Draven Phillips and Evaleena Wonderling.

Carole attended and graduated from Newburyport High School in 1967. Carole met and married the love of her life, Theodore Stanwood, better known as Ted or Big Ted. They were high school sweethearts and were married for 55 years. To say Carole put others' needs before her own is a mighty understatement. She cared deeply and genuinely about others and showed her love for others every single day. She gave selflessly and without a second thought. She had so many friends and really never had just an acquaintance. If she met you, you simply became part of her circle.  She was a regular at Marie’s Restaurant in Salisbury and found lots of joy spending time there with her besties. She loved Sue’s coffee and company.

Carole came from a family of matriarchs, strong women who took pride in raising their families to be confident, good, hard working, altruistic people. She took being a mother very seriously.  It was her most important job and she made sure her children knew that all her life. She was like no other. Her home was always warm and welcoming. In the event someone came by for a visit, she always had a pot of coffee or a cup of tea on and there were visits on a regular basis because Carole was a soulful listener. You always left a visit with Carole feeling warm and loved.

She was a cosmetologist by trade and had regular clientele up to her passing. The world lost a beautiful soul, and her family finds peace in knowing she is reunited with the love of her life for all eternity.
