Carol E. (Gizzi) Federico

Carol Eleanor (Gizzi) Federico of Newburyport, MA, formerly of Medford, Stoneham, and Newburyport died peacefully on February 14, 2023.  She was the daughter of the late Modestino and Eleanor (Galasso) Gizzi. Carol was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Anthony Louis Federico.  She was the loving mother to Rick and his wife Pamela of Newburyport, and Steven and his wife Lori of Peabody. She was the grandmother to her adored grandchildren Anthony Federico of Boston, Nicholas Federico of Ipswitch, Paul and Robert Federico of Newburyport, Samantha, Jason, and Frankie Federico of Stoneham as well as her step-grandchildren Breanna Russo and Derrick Gordon of Peabody and Nick Herlihy of Stoneham. Carol is also survived by her loving sister-in-law Phyllis Federico of Boston. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Mary Gizzi and Anthony and Dorothy Gizzi. Carol was born and raised in the North End of Boston and Medford. 

She spent most of her years raising her family in Stoneham. Carol was a dedicated and loving homemaker to her family and an amazing cook and baker. She loved fashion and was always impeccably dressed. After raising her children, she enjoyed various part-time jobs that kept her busy. When she wasn’t with her husband Tony, Carol loved cooking, gardening, knitting, shopping, and decorating as well as spending quality time with her grandchildren and cheering them on in all their activities and sporting events.

Relatives and friends are invited on Saturday, February 25, 2023, to the Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport for Carol’s Funeral Mass at 12:30. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the Seaglass Restaurant in Salisbury, Ma. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Federico’s family with her funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s name to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
