Carol A. Cookson 83 years passed away from Covid-19 on Thursday June 19, 2020 at the Anna Jaques Hospital.
She was born in Lawrence, MA. daughter of the late Lloyd and Cecile (Archambault) Cookson.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, class of 1954. Following her graduation she spent 13 years as a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur. She continued her education received a BA in Education at Emmanuel College and a Masters of Education in Reading.
Carol was a resident of Atria at Merrimac Place for the past year and a long time member of Star of the Sea Parish in Salisbury. She was a woman of faith and will be missed by family and friends.
She was a dedicated teacher in the Lawrence Public Schools for 24 years at St. Augustine's, The Bruce, Tarbox, and Hennessy School.
Carol is survived by three sisters, Joyce M. Barg and her husband Ronald, Nancy J, Santoro and her husband Patrick Cyr, and Colleen J. Mitchell and her husband Mark, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers and a sister, Robert L. Cookson, Roland T. Cookson and Anne C. McCarthy.
Graveside Service at Longhill Cemetery in Salisbury will be private. A celebration of life memorial mass will be planned at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Cookson’s family with her funeral arrangements.
