Barbara A. (Kellett) Kane passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024 with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Barbara was born in Lynn MA. on March 5, 1935 to Effie (Graham) and Earl Kellett. She attended school in Lynn, graduating from Lynn English High School in 1953. Barbara married Frank Kane in April 1956 and moved to Newburyport where they raised their four children. Barbara was a communicant at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newburyport where she was an active member on the Alter Guild, as well as volunteering at the annual church fair. Barabar also knitted prayer shawls for sick parishioners. Barbara worked several jobs, including working in the coffee shop of the Anna Jacques hospital, then moving into the medical records department until her retirement in 2005. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and knitting on her glider in her yard. She enjoyed vacationing in New Hampshire, staying at her favorite motel in North Conway, Junge’s Motel. She also enjoyed many summers at her sister’s cabin on Swain’s lake in Barrington NH. Her most memorable vacation was her trip to Hawaii with her husband Frank for their 50th wedding anniversary.
Barbara is survived by her children Nancy Lazdowski and her husband Dawson of Newburyport, her son Tom and his wife Maria from Sunrise, Florida, and her daughter Julie of Lynn. She has 7 grandchildren, Nicole Christofaro and her husband Jayson of Pittsfield Ma, Jared Lazdowski of Conway, NH, Matthew Lazdowski of Newburyport, Emily Kane of Statesboro, Georgia, Caitlyn Kane of Amesbury, Tyler and Brendan Kane of Byfield, Ma., 5 great-grand children Aubrey and Hayley Piatti of Epsom, NH, Rylee Christofaro of Epsom, NH, Jonah and Averie of Conway, NH. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Frank in 2019 and her son Stephen who recently passed away on December 13, 2024.
Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff at Brigham Manor in Newburyport for the care she received while she was a resident. They would also like to thank the ICU staff at the Anna Jacques hospital for their compassionate end of life care given to Barbara.
