Anne Marie (Chaisson) Manson, 90 passed away on August 27, 2022 in Rockland, Maine. She was born in Woburn, MA to Francis Arthur and Irene (Froton) Chaisson on April 14, 1932.
She was the devoted wife of the late Donald Robert Manson, Sr. of Newburyport for 49 years.
She grew up in Newburyport with her 11 siblings. A graduate of Newburyport High School, class of 1950 she was a cheerleader, held several class offices and was a member of the honor Society.
Anne was a talented artist and seamstress. She was a member of the Newburyport Art Association and frequently exhibited her paintings. She was also a nationally acclaimed quilter and was a member of the Clamshell Quilters of MidCoast Maine, The Pine Tree Quilters Guild of the State of Maine, New England Quilters Guild, American Quilters Society and the Sunshine Quilt Guild of Englewood, FL. Her “TIGNISH” quilt was the centerpiece of The Town of Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Canada’s Bicentennial celebration in 1999. Jaques Chaisson, one of Anne’s ancestors was a founder of the community in 1799. Anne spent countless hours researching her family history. She loved learning more about her family tree especially her Canadian and Micmac roots.
Anne and Don were inseparable and loved canning vegetables from their garden at their home in Alan, ME, going out for their weekly pizza night with friends, traveling and wintering in Englewood, FL where she eventually resided in their second home after Don’s passing. In 2014 she moved to Washington, ME and resided with her daughter Debbie until July of 2021 when she moved into The Woodlands in Rockland, ME.
She had a lifelong interest in current events instilled in her by a high school teachers assignment of relating a current event every day. It was rare to find her without a newspaper, magazine and she never missed the evening news. Anne was also an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Anne leaves behind six children, Deborah Bocko of Washington, ME, Marie Somers and her husband Robert of Chester, NH, Patricia Manson of Washington, ME, Donald R. Manson, Jr. of Washington, ME, Rebecca Brown and her husband Gordon of Northport, FL, and Jayne Irving and her husband Joel of Lake Wylie, SC; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday September 6, 2022 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday September 7, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Newburyport.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Anne’s name to Beacon Hospice 1026 Stillwater Ave. Bangor, ME 04401 and the Alzheimer’s Association.
