It is with great sadness that the family of William Joseph Driscoll III announce his passing at the age of 75, on February 24, 2019. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his five children and six grandchildren. He is survived by his son William J. Driscoll IV; his daughter Amy Driscoll and her daughters Katherine and Grace Clancy; his daughter Heather Driscoll, her husband Jeffrey Stone, and their sons Noah and Aidan Stone; his daughter Erin Ketchum, her husband Brian Ketchum, and their children Samuel and Charlotte Ketchum; his son Daniel Driscoll; and former spouse, Sandra Driscoll.
Bill was born in 1943 in Northampton, Massachusetts to Velma “Dolly” Driscoll (Brown) and William J. Driscoll Jr. He graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine in 1965 and then graduated from the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine in 1969. For more than 35 years, Bill practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Massachusetts. At the time of his retirement in 2008, he had helped bring thousands of new lives into the world.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He spent countless enjoyable hours out on the ocean, or in the streams, forests, and fields of New England with his son, Dan, and friends. He was happiest driving around town with his dog at his side—observing local wildlife, the tides, and Plum Island’s beautiful beaches.
Family and friends may call on Sunday March 3, 2019 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home.
