Shirley May (Bourque) Simard

Shirley May Simard, 92, a resident of Newburyport and Salisbury, died Tuesday afternoon September 26, 2017 at Brigham Manor in Newburyport. She was born in Haverhill on February 7, 1925 to the late William and Carrie (Cherry) Bourque. Shirley was raised and educated in Haverhill and attended Haverhill schools. 

Following her education she met and married the late John E. Simard and the couple moved to Newburyport before settling in Salisbury to raise their family. Which included 4 biological children, 4 adopted children as well as 115 foster children over the years. In her later years Shirley enjoyed crocheting thousands of hats for local area charities.

At Shirley’s request there will be no services. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Simard’s family with her funeral arrangements.
