Raymond Carlton Hughes, 89, died Saturday morning March 16, 2019 at Port Health Care in Newburyport. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Newburyport born on April 22, 1929 to the late William Sumner and Lucretia (Fowler) Hughes.
Following his graduation for Newburyport High School Raymond enlisted in the US Navy and served our country proudly overseas during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in December of 1951 and began his career at General Electric as an Electronics Technician. Where he worked solely until his retirement.
He married his wife Theresa (Goguen) Hughes in 1969, the couple enjoyed traveling especially to Europe and many trips to Las Vegas. Raymond enjoyed watching classic western and horror movies, shopping and tinkering with anything electronic.
In addition to his wife Theresa, Raymond is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Marjorie Woodbury, Francis, Milton, William, and Annie Hughes.
Family and friends may call on Thursday March 21, 2019 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will immediately follow the calling hours in the Funeral Home, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Newburyport.
