Patricia Matt Obituary

Patricia Matt, 89, died Sunday morning November 24, 2019 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was born in Newburyport on March 20, 1930 to the late Charles and Dorothy (Marlin) Shea. She was raised and educated in Newburyport. Patricia married the late Robert S. Matt and the couple raised their family in Newburyport and spent many summers at the families lake house in Alton Bay on lake Winnipesaukee.

Pat was employed as a waitress in various local restaurants. She concluded her career on December 29, 2000 when Marty’s Steakhouse in North Hampton, NH closed. Pat loved crossword puzzles, the Hallmark Channel, playing cards, was a champion Scrabble player, and excellent cook. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of many leagues, wintering in Englewood, FL with her many friends and relatives, but above all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her children, Pamela Hamel and her husband Robert of South Berwick, ME, Roberta DeAngelis and her husband Richard of Framinghan, MA, and Richard Matt of Newburyport, MA; grandchildren, Christina, Nicholas, Jennifer, Alycia, Anthony, and Alissa; great grandchildren, Theodore, Maxwell, Jack, Jacob, and Noli; siblings, Robert Shea, and Richard Shea; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Patricia was predeceased by her brother Charles Shea, Jr.

Services and burial will be private at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
