Olga Mary Rymsha was born on November 21, 1920 in Newburyport. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Wezowicz and Mary (Jutras) Wezowicz. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 3, 2017, following a lengthy period of declining health.
Olga was educated in the Newburyport school system, and upon her graduation she was employed at the Ruth Shoe Company until her marriage on September 4, 1942 to William “Ben” Rymsha.
In 1950 Ben and Olga purchased Annie Ryan’s Restaurant and re-named it Taffy’s Luncheonette. She was not only the owner but performed many duties as a cook, waitress and hostess until it’s closing in 2001 at the age of 81.
Olga was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, William “Ben” Rymsha in 1994.
She is survived by her four sons, James, Robert, Michael, and William. she is also survived by six grandchildren, Catherine, Julianne, Michael, and Johnathan Rymsha, Erica Rothenberger, Kimberly Torguson and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Adelyn Rothenberger, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff of Penacook House in Haverhill, MA for making Olga feel safe and secure during her final years of a full and wonderful life.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday June 6, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church 42 Green St. Newburyport, MA. As well as from 8:00 to 9:00 AM on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at the church prior to her Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport. The Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Rymsha’s family with her funeral arrangements.
