Monique M. Lucas

Monique Lucas, 89, of Newburyport, MA, USA, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday May 17, 2018.  Born on January 27, 1929 in Charleroi, Belgium, she was the daughter of the late Michel Lucas and Marie-Antoinette de Kehzer.

She lived a fulfilling life full of rich experiences having resided in three continents (Africa, Europe, North America) and having successfully built and run three retail businesses.  She adored her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic who frequently worshiped at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Charleston, SC and the St Ann Church in West Newbury, MA.  Her wit and determination will be missed enormously by all who knew her.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Nady Peters of West Newbury, MA and Bernard and Jane Peters of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Alexandre and Isabelle; and her brother, Jean, and sister, Genevieve, both of Belgium. She was pre-deceased by her son Marc, her siblings, Christiane and Micky, and her spouses Marcel and Lawman.

Family and friends may attend her Funeral Mass at 10:30AM on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at the St Ann Church in West Newbury, MA.  Burial at St Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport will follow Mass.  Flowers may be sent to the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home at 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
