Mary Bashaw Youn

Mary Bashaw Youn, 95, died Tuesday afternoon July 3, 2018 at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. She was born in Newburyport on July 16, 1922 to the late Charles G. and Ellen (Shea) Bashaw. She attended Newburyport Schools and was a 1939 graduate of Newburyport High School. She then furthered her education, graduating from Boston University. Mary enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served our country proudly during WWII until her honorable discharge in 1946.

Mary was employed as a teacher for many years. She taught overseas, in Michigan, New Hampshire as well as in Massachusetts. She finished her working career as a Social Security Administrator in Salem, Massachusetts until her retirement.

Mary is survived by her siblings, Helene Fowler of Amesbury, MA, and Charles Bashaw and his wife Juleen of Safford, AZ, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her siblings, Charlotte Page, Paul Bashaw, Gertrude Jones and Gilbert Bashaw.

Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday July 7, 2018 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will follow the calling hours and be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport. Burial will be private at a later date.
